Our
Story

The Black Canadian Child and Family Services Society (BCCFSS) is a community-rooted organization dedicated to the safety, stability, and long-term well-being of Black children, youth, and families across Canada.

Founded in response to the persistent overrepresentation and inequitable treatment of Black families within child-serving systems, BCCFSS was established to provide culturally responsive, prevention-focused, and dignity-centered supports that strengthen families before crisis occurs.

We recognize that families thrive when services are affirming, coordinated, and rooted in cultural understanding. Our work focuses on building caregiver capacity, supporting healthy child development, and ensuring children remain connected to safe, stable, and nurturing environments.

Through direct programming, advocacy, education, and system navigation, we aim to:

• Protect children and youth
• Strengthen family systems
• Reduce unnecessary intervention
• Advance equitable outcomes in child and family services

At BCCFSS, we believe that culturally grounded care is not optional ,it is essential. Our team is committed to providing services without stigma, judgment, or bias, ensuring that every family we serve is treated with dignity and respect.

We are building a model of child and family services that is proactive, community-led, and accountable to the families it serves.
